The International Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots Eco-Center at Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) in May was certified by the ROC Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) as the environmental education site and on July 5, the commencement ceremony was held. According to CJCU President, Dr. Lee Yung-Lung, the commencement meant more CJCU’s responsibility to continue Dr. Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots spirit by providing professional environmental education to students, the public, and organizations to achieve goals of education, research, conservation, culture, and recreation. At the ceremony, traditional African dance was performed by students from the International Program for Sustainable Development (IPSD) and attended by distinguished guests including Deputy Mayor of Tainan, Chao Ching-Hui, Section Chief of EPA, Wei Guo-Chun, and Deputy Director General of Environmental Protection Bureau, Chen Hsin-Fen, and Section Chief of ITRI, Chuang Sheng-Da, and representatives of environmental educational institutions, groups, and communities. President Lee presented CJCU’s Letter of Appreciation to ITRI for its donation of dry bio-toilet to the facility.
